Entry: Not quite knitting today... Monday, July 28, 2003

I'm designing a fair isle pattern for the jumper I'm planning on starting very soon. As soon as I finish spinning up the alpaca that I'm going to make it out of, that is. I just can't decide what to do with it, as it's soft as butter, underspun as all hell (I HATE being a beginner at things, grrr!) and apparantly has very little memory if knitted in stocking stitch. However, I don't have much choice if I want a wearable item out of the colours I have, as I don't want stripes, and if I don't use stocking stitch my poor imagination doesn't quite know what to do with multiple colours.

Hrm. Anyway. So I'm fiddling with my graph paper and farting around with a few ideas. Found some very yummy designs at Red Lipstick which are quite lovely, I may go with the 2nd one turned on its side and staggered in rows, but need to adapt it to three colours.

I have: 500g of chocolate colour, and 200g each of honey and cream. So, short of an unimaginative cafe latte top, what's a gal to do???

Well, it's back to nursing His Royal Baldness back to health and the eternally hungry spinning wheel, and a pile of blank graph paper. Then this afternoon we're going to get a cool Chinese acupuncturist to poke him full of needles and give him some weird-ass medicine to make everything better. See how good a day off can be? Hehehe...
